EFF demands radical economic policies for coalition

The EFF in Gauteng says unless the DA agrees to its radical economic policies including that of land expropriation, it does not foresee the two parties forming a coalition.

The ANC and the DA are battling it out for control of the Tshwane and Johannesburg metros.

The EFF could emerge as the kingmaker if there’s no outright winner.

With 75% of the voting districts declared in the province – the ANC and the DA are still neck in neck with the ANC on 41.8% and the DA on 41.4%.

The EFF has over 10% of the vote.

In Tshwane, the DA leads with 43.9% and the ANC is hot on its trail with 41.5%.

EFF Gauteng chairperson Mandisa Mashigo says, “Coalition is one option and another option is trade municipalities if you are a true kingmaker.  We don’t foresee a situation where we go into a coalition with anyone especially on the basis that we don’t see a party as far right wing as the Democratic Alliance agreeing to any of our seven key policy positions of land expropriation because that is our central policy position in terms of job creation and also as a basis for industrialisation.”
