The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) took a decision not to open the stations on Monday due to the low number of residents – only about 30 who have registered for special voting in 13 wards.
The Vuwani area has seen violent demarcation protests that left at least 30 schools set alight or damaged earlier in 2016.
Acting National Police Commissioner Kgomotso Phahlane says the IEC officials will be escorted to their respective voting stations to allow special voting to take place.
“There will be 14 voting stations operational where 34 people would have registered to cast their special votes. We do not foresee any problems in that area … voting stations to the total of 56 will be operational on Wednesday. Our commitment remains in relation to the transportation of the voting material and the securing of IEC personnel,” explains Phahlane.
