Political analyst Ongama Mtimka says it’s clear that the African National Congress (ANC) has serious problems in the Tshwane Municipality.
His statement comes after the party announced that some National Executive Committee (NEC) members would be in Tshwane later on Sunday morning to help branches and their regional structures to finalize their choice of a mayoral candidate.
The ANC announced its mayoral candidates for all major metros and strategic towns at the end of its NEC meeting in Pretoria on Saturday night. But it failed to come up with the Tshwane’s mayoral candidate choice.
Mtimka says it is crucial for the ANC to urgently find a solution to the problems.
“It’s important for them to first resolve the issue. There is a problem and they’ve acknowledged it in the public domain. How they resolve is going to be very important because you don’t want to go to an election where the stakes are high and you are bleeding from within.”
