Equal access to resources critical in achieving a non-racial society

African National Congress (ANC) Treasurer General Zweli Mkhize says a non-racial society will not be fully achieved unless there is equal access to economic resources and opportunities.

Mkhize was speaking at a Racism Dialogue organised by the Durban University of Technology.

He says the legacy of the past will continue to haunt South Africans until black and white have equal access to the economic opportunities

Mkhize adds: “Because at the end of the day without equality, access to resources, financial support for small businesses, without the support to be able to improve the economic status of the individual we will find that racism will continue and I think presently we will not be able to start a discussion on how do we eradicate racism until we have eradicated poverty and until we have ensured that there is equal access to resources.”
