Race for Gauteng tight between ANC and DA

Though the ANC has an overall lead of over 44% in Gauteng with 73% of the votes declared, competition remains tight between the ruling party and the opposition DA in Johannesburg and Tshwane.
The ANC has now established a significant lead over its main competitor in the third biggest metro of Ekurhuleni.
The ANC is also leading in all other Gauteng municipalities, with the exception of the DA-run Midvaal.
The EFF occupies third position in all the municipalities in the province.
By sunrise on Thursday, the DA was leading the ANC in all the three hotly contested metros in Gauteng.
However, with 73% of the votes declared Friday morning, the ANC enjoys an 11% lead in Ekurhuleni with 47% of the votes whilst the DA stands at 36%.
In Johannesburg the ANC has a slender lead of 41.96%, with the DA at 41.55%.
In Tshwane the DA leads the ruling party by just under 2%.
The ANC looks set to retain all the other municipalities in the province, albeit with a reduced majority.
Having amassed just under 60% in the Midvaal, the DA also appears to have done enough to retain it.
