A DA-ANC show as first results trickle in

Results for the 2016 local government elections have started trickling in. As at 21h50, only 81 voting districts out of 22 612 had been counted.

The party leading by ward in the Northern Cape and the Free State provinces was the DA while nationally by voting district the ANC was leading the pack.

The ANC was also in the lead in Gauteng by votes, after two voting districts were declared.

This counting progress only translates to just 1% of the vote count. The SABC will keep you posted on the party performances for every 5% of the vote count.

The first results declared were for the voting district Mistly Farm at Komga in Great Kei municipality in the Eastern Cape just after 20h00. However, the results for the other voting district in the ward were still outstanding before the ward winner could be determined.

National averages so far stands at ANC is 53.44%, DA – 34.11% and EFF – 5.14%
