EFF highlights ballot papers transportation irregularities in F State

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in Free State is investigating complaints brought forward by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).

They allege there were some irregularities in the transportation of marked ballot papers.

“In Metsimaholo – Sasolburg we identified two ballot boxes written ANC on the outside and sealed. Who voted and where? In Mangaung, we identified two cars that were transporting ballot papers without the supervision of the police,” says Mandisa Makesini of the EFF in Free State.

IEC Provincial Electoral Officer, Itumeleng Liba says, “We have received a number of complaints from political parties and we are dealing and handling all of them as they come in.”

In Bloemfontein, voters braved a cold-front from early in the morning.

68-year-old Kebabone Mapharisa was at the Kagisanong Hall at 5 am, two hours before the voting station opened.

Long queues were visible in Kroonstad, Sasolburg and Parys.

22 temporary voting stations were blown away by strong winds in Qwaqwa.
