Zuma to cast his vote in Nkandla

South Africans will soon start voting in the 2016 local government elections.

President Jacob Zuma will join millions of people who will be voting across the country.

He will cast his vote at Ntoloana Primary School in Nkandla later on Wednesday morning.

At least 28 million registered voters are expected to cast their votes in the municipal polls which are predicted to be closely contested.

About 200 political parties and over 61 000 candidates are participating in these elections.

So far President Zuma said he is satisfied at the preparedness of the Independent Electoral Commission to run these local government elections.

He has since authorised the deployment of more than 2 000 of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) members to assist the police to maintain law and order during voting process.

The President will cast his vote at his rural village of Nkandla at 10am.
