Malema slams IEC over complaints submissions

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has slammed the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) for allegedly not prioritising complaints submitted by the party.

Addressing a press conference at the IEC Results Operations Centre in Pretoria, Malema says the IEC has acted swiftly on complaints against the EFF, but has failed to do the same for the party’s objections.

“Whilst we welcome the Electoral Court’s decision to remove our candidate in ward 7 of Atteridgeville Tshwane Metro, it is worrying that the IEC never acted with the same speed and precision on our complaints. The IEC must be ashamed that despite all the verbal and written complaints, we have given to them about direct violation of EFF rights to freedom of assembly. We call on all to be tolerant and let us indeed have a peaceful, free and fair election,” says Malema.
