The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in North West says it has disqualified two Democratic Alliance (DA) ward candidates in the province.
The IEC says the candidates nominations were submitted after the closing date which was on 2, June.
The Electoral Operations Manager for the IEC in North West, Nthabiseng Tsipane, says they picked up the issue when they were doing the final quality checks on all the submitted candidates and documents.
“We discovered that there was a candidate in Ward 14 of Tswaing that was captured in error so to speak and we quickly notified the party, and then we removed the candidate from the list of contesting candidates for that party. But there is also a candidate that was in similar situation for the DA as well in Ward 18 of Ramotshere Moiloa. So, those two candidates were subsequently disqualified,” explains Tsipane.
