APC promises to end bucket toilet system in F State

Leader of the African People’s Convention (APC) ,Themba Godi, says if his party wins the Metropolitan municipality of Mangaung in the Free State, they will focus on doing away completely with the bucket toilet system.

Godi was addressing members of the APC and potential voters in Botshabelo, east of Bloemfontein.

He says the bucket toilet eradication is long overdue and Mangaung as a metro has the capacity to eliminate the bucket system.

He says the APC will ensure that councillors meet with residents on regular monthly basis.

“First and foremost we want to close the gap between councillors and communities by ensuring that we adhere to the Municipal Systems Act to ensure that whatever concerns communities have, they always have access to their elected representatives. But like I indicated the most dehumanising thing in this metro is the bucket system which government promised way back in 2007 in Parliament that it is going to be eliminated in this country, but we still see it in a metro,” says Godi.
