ANC slams killing of KZN candidates

The African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal says the killing of its candidates will give unfair advantage to other parties during the municipal elections.

The party’s ward candidates in Harding on the south coast, Bongani Skhosana, and Khanyisile Ngobese-Sbisi in Ladysmith in the Midlands, have become the latest casualties of the alleged political killings in the province.

The party’s Mluleki Ndobe has, however, called on voters in the affected wards to still vote for the slain party candidates on August 3.

“This is criminality and hooliganism and this will never be allowed in both the society and in the ANC, and if it is associated with our structures, we are going to root out any criminality within our ranks.”

Ndobe adds: “We cannot really understand that this can be associated with politics because in politics you differ politically, but there is no reason that can justify the killing.”
