Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema says he is confident that his party will do well in most municipalities around the country.
Malema was campaigning in Munsieville on Gauteng’s West Rand. The EFF leader was warmly received in Mogali City.
Addressing supporters Malema lamented the challenges of service delivery that often leads to protests around the country.
Most of those who came to listen to him were hoping he would address their concerns about unemployment and service delivery.
Malema said his party will build better houses and promised that EFF councillors would respond promptly to service delivery issues.
Turning to his party, Malema was upbeat about its work in this upcoming election.
“The EFF is a big player in the coming elections. And no one can ignore it. The response has been overwhelming and we are happy that our people are beginning to realise that there is a need for an alternative. The numbers don’t lie and everywhere we go our numbers have grown. So, far the campaigning has been hectic and it’s bound to get tougher as we approach election day,” says Malema.
Malema has also promised that his party will do away with tender processes and has committed his party to addressing the housing backlog in municipalities – should the EFF win some of the municipalities.
