ANC takes its election campaign to Ekurhuleni

The African National Congress’ (ANC) election campaign focused on Ekurhuleni on Wednesday.

ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe flanked by the outgoing Ekurhuleni mayor Mondli Gungubele and mayoral candidate, Mzwandile Masina visited the home of Africa’s biggest airport, OR Tambo International Airport.

Ekurhuleni is the biggest international entry point into the continent.

It is also regarded as the transportation hub of the country.

The vision of the outgoing mayor has paid dividends as the area is being developed into a corridor.

The ANC is pulling out all the stops to retain the metro.

Ekurhuleni mayoral candidate Mzwandile Masina says, “We are taking time, spending less time in the media, going house to house so that we can galvanise support for the movement. But also to get to hear some (of) the challenges that we could not respond (to) over the last five years, and make renewed commitment to our people on how we are going to resolve some of the challenges.”

The ANC says it is satisfied with the response of voters.

The party says recent divisions within its ranks are now history, and the focus is on winning the August elections.
