ANC confident it will retain Tlokwe

The African National Congress (ANC) says it is confident that it will retain the Tlokwe municipality in the North West.

The party says the municipality has a good track record of service delivery under the ANC.

Members of the ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) visited churches in Potchefstroom to garner support ahead of next month’s municipal polls.

ANC NEC member Jackson Mthembu says they are aware that opposition parties are entering into coalitions with a view to unseat them.

“We’ve beaten them being together, we will still beat them being together come the 3rd of August because all this opposition parties have clapped against the African National Congress, not only in Tlokwe, but everywhere else. But we want them together so that we can beat all of them together because that is what we are good at, come the 3rd of August people of Tlokwe know which party and movement gave them freedom. So here in Tlokwe I can tell you we are confident we are again going to be the governing party come the 3rd of August.”
