The African National Congress (ANC) National Chairperson, Baleka Mbete has lashed out at members who are mobilising communities to destroy properties just because they did not make it onto the party’s election candidates’ lists.
She was speaking during the party’s campaign in Umzimkhulu in southern KwaZulu-Natal.
Mbete has called on their members who failed to make it to the candidates’ lists for the upcoming local government elections, to accept the decision.
Meanwhile, ANC NEC Member Angie Motshekga is expected to visit the family of murdered Beaufort West teenager Gerdo Karelse during an election campaign visit on Saturday.
Eighteen-year-old Karelse was killed by a fellow detainee in the local police holding cells earlier this week.
ANC Central Karoo Secretary, Windy Plaatjies, says he was a member of the ANC Youth League.
“Comrade Angie is coming to assist us in our election campaign. We’ll have door to door in the area, starting at 10am and then the introduction of our mayoral candidates and candidates standing in the wards.”
