The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) leader, Mangosuthu Buthelezi is to embark on a campaign trail in Wakkersroom, Mpumalanga, ahead of the party’s provincial manifesto on Sunday.
The IFP promises include good governance at municipal level and the delivery of housing.
Leaders of the IFP will spend their weekend in certain communities under the Gert Sibande region, where the party enjoys support from residents compared to other parts of the province.
The party is expected to also announce it’s councillor candidates for the upcoming local government elections.
On Friday the IFP, opposed an application by the National Freedom Party (NFP), to get the IEC to extend it’s deadline for a registration fee.
The NFP approached the Electoral Court sitting in the Johannesburg High Court following an announcement that it has been disqualified from participating in the upcoming local elections as it missed the crucial deadline.
