ANC KZN defends mayoral candidates

The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal has defended its selection process of its mayoral candidates, saying regions themselves were the ones who recommended names of mayoral candidates.


The party announced its mayoral candidates for district municipalities and eThekwini Metro including two strategic municipalities.

According to the ruling party its mayoral candidates are skilled and experienced people in local government.

Meanwhile the party’s eThekwini Regional Chairperson Zandile Gumede has been confirmed as the party’s metro candidate while businessman Themba Njilo is the ANC’s mayoral candidate in uMhlathuze.

The ANC KwaZulu-Natal says its mayoral candidates are credible people with vast experience in local government.

The party also defended the selection of its mayoral candidates saying the names were proposed by the party regional structures.

Party Provincial Chairperson Sihle Zikalala also dismissed claims that some of the mayoral candidates were imposed on regions.
