Tshwane African National Congress (ANC) mayoral candidate Thoko Didiza says her primary focus upon assuming the mayorship of the capital, is ensuring sustainability to already existing projects.
Didiza is among senior ANC leaders campaigning in the Pretoria city centre on Friday morning.
She is accompanied by Mayor Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, Premier David Makhura and the ANC regional leadership, showing a united front.
Didiza’s announcement as mayoral candidate has sparked protests in the region. However, Didiza says she will focus on providing services to the people.
“We’ve got the Vat Alles programme in the city which is the environmental element of our Expanded Public Works Programme. We will look at other innovative ways on how we can expand that programme on the sectors of the economy, for instance in construction because we believe job creation is one of the key elements in this city that we will have to actually attend to.”
