ANC against party member killing in Tshwane

The African National Congress (ANC) deputy Secretary General, Jessie Duarte, promised action against any party member linked to the killing of an ANC member in the Tshwane Metro on Sunday.

The member died after shooting broke out between two party factions outside the building in Pretoria where the ruling party’s Tshwane mayoral selection process was underway.

Former Minister of Public Works, Thoko Didiza has since been named as the ANC’s Tshwane Mayoral candidate for the local elections.

Duarte says the ANC does not condone violence.

“The ANC has noted and is deeply disturbed by the outbreak of violence which took place at the outskirts of the meeting which was held on Sunday. A member of the ANC passed away and several others were injured. The ANC condemns this behaviour in the strongest terms and will act decisively where it is proven that any of the our members were responsible for the shooting,” says Duarte.
