Maimane urges youth to be employers

Youth must become employers not only employees says Democratic Alliance (DA) leader, Mmusi Maimane, during a rally with young people in Khayelitsha.

He says in municipalities where they will govern after the Local Government Election, his party will assist youth to start their own businesses.

A small group of young people braved a cold morning on the Cape Flats to hear DA leader speak. He called on the youth to vote on the third of August for the party to get a two-thirds majority in the province.

Maimane promised that his party will deal with corruption and ensure efficient service delivery and for the youth, quality education and jobs.

“The long term journey is to make sure we have more small businesses by young people assist with venture capital. Take away bylaws that make hard to do business, shredded so many already. Want to make sure young people become employers not only employees,” says Maimane.

Entrepreneurs in the area say they growing but are facing challenges from time to time. Nogulede Feni, who has been making school tracksuits, says she needs more capital, while carwash owner, Richard Dani, has had problems finding a place to work from.
