The South African Communist Party (SACP) representative at the launch of the African National Congress (ANC) Limpopo manifesto, Goodmam Mtileni, says the party will support the ANC in the upcoming local government elections.
While addressing about 19 000 party members and supporters at the Monsterlus Stadium, near Groblersdal, Mitileni urged voters to vote for the ANC. He says that a vote for the ANC is a vote for a better life.
ANC provincial chair and Limpopo Premier Stan Mathabatha says the ANC is going to win all the local municipalities in Limpopo during the upcoming elections. Mathabatha also launched the 5000 membership ANC volunteer program.
Earlier on Sunday, the SACP reassured the ANC that it has not registered to contest the August 3rd Local Government Elections in Alfred Nzo district in the Eastern Cape.
On Thursday, ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe made the accusation that the communist party had submitted its candidates list for the polls.
The SACP has a standing policy to campaign for the ANC in elections, but tension has been rising between the two over the candidates’ lists and alleged state capture by the Gupta family.
