Thousands of African National Congress (ANC) supporters in Mpumalanga are converging at the Mbombela stadium to attend the party’s provincial manifesto launch.
The party is confident that it will retain all the municipalities in the province come this year’s Local Government Elections on August 3.
ANC provincial chairperson David Mabuza will lead Sunday’s proceedings and President Jacob Zuma is expected to deliver a keynote address during the course of the day.
The ANC’s provincial leadership says it is more than prepared for the manifesto launch on Sunday.
Provincial Secretary Mandla Ndlovu says they will fill up Mbombela stadium because Mpumalanga is the home of the ANC.
Sunday’s launch comes amid a lot of unrest within the ANC branches in the province.
Last week, Deputy Chairperson of the party’s branch in Pienaar, Michael Phelembe, was shot dead at home in what is believed to be politically motivated.
