Mashatile hails Gauteng’s service delivery initiative

Gauteng African National Congress (ANC) chairperson Paul Mashatile used the provincial Local Government Election manifesto launch on Saturday to heap praise on provincial government’s mass mobilisation and community outreach programme, Ntirhisano.

Since taking office in 2014, Premier David Makhura and his entire executive including senior government officials have been spending more time criss-crossing the province to listen to community concerns about service delivery related matters.

Addressing a crowd of over 80 000 people at the FNB stadium in Soweto, Mashatile hailed the Ntirhisano initiative as proof that the ANC led government is committed to addressing the needs of communities.

“As the ANC through the programme of Ntirhisano we have been galvanising communities to help solve problems. Ntirhisano is about working together,” says Mashatile.

Mashatile says rigorous measures will be taken to ensure that municipal councillors deliver proper services.

ANC supporters who attended the launch of the party’s provincial election manifesto have expressed satisfaction with the message that was delivered.

However, they remain concerned over poor service delivery issues such as housing, lack of jobs, as well as corruption.

The party seeks to win all the municipalities in Gauteng, in the August 3 Local Government Elections.

“I’m here today so that I can see what they have to give us, so that as the youth of SA we can progress forward and have something because most of the youth are not working, some are half educated. They can’t further their studies because there’s no money. So I’m here to find out if there’s funding for such and what is the way forward?,” says one supporter.
