Mchunu to be officially sworn in as KZN premier

Willies Mchunu, who is also the African National Congress (ANC) Deputy Chairperson in KwaZulu-Natal, is expected to be sworn in as Premier during a special sitting of the provincial legislature on Wednesday afternoon.

Mchunu will take the baton from Senzo Mchunu who stepped down on Monday on instruction of the ruling party.

Mchunu assumed the reigns as Acting Premier on Tuesday.

Party Provincial Spokesperson Mdumiseni Ntuli will replace the late Member of Parliament, Senzo Mkhize, who died early this month.

There are reports of a looming cabinet reshuffle after the change in Premier.
