‘Concerns that ANC is using govt events to campaign exaggerated’

African National Congress (ANC) Head of Election Campaigning Nomvula Mokonyane says concerns that the ANC is using government events to campaign for the up-coming local government elections are exaggerated.

Speaking at a breakfast in Johannesburg focusing on the party’s manifesto, Mokonyane says that much of what happens at these events is due to communities and individuals, out of their own initiative, showing support for the party.

The Minister’s comments come after reports that a number of events, most recently Sunday’s National Prayer Day event, have resembled ANC rallies rather than government events.
