Zuma to attend ANC bus crash victims’ funeral

President Jacob Zuma and Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa will join mourners at the funeral service in Katlehong on the East Rand on Saturday of 10 African National Congress (ANC) bus crash victims.

The 10 were killed when a bus they were travelling in overturned while they were returning to Johannesburg from the launch of the ANC’s manifesto in Port Elizabeth last Sunday.

ANC leaders from its president to its branch leader will converge at the Ke-Ditselana Cultural Village in Katlehong to bid farewell to their fallen heroes.

At their memorial service earlier this week, the 10 ANC volunteers from Ekurhuleni, were described as committed members who died in service of their organisation.

Police say the accident, in which they perished, happened while drivers were swapping seats.

At least 50 other passengers were also injured during the accident.

Transport Minister Dipuo Peters has meanwhile asked the victim families to approach the Road Accident Fund directly when making claims instead of unscrupulous lawyers.
