ANC marshals believed dead in F State bus crash

The African National Congress (ANC) Eastern Cape chairperson Phumulo Masualle has sent condolences to the families of party supporters who were involved in a fatal crash this morning.
The deceased were returning to Gauteng from the ANC manifesto launch in Port Elizabeth when their vehicle overturned on the N1 between Winburg and Ventersburg in the Free State. The death toll has risen to ten.
Eight ANC marshals are believed to have died in a road accident in the Free State, the party said on Sunday.
“The African National Congress has learnt with sadness of a fatal accident in the Free State where a bus carrying comrades returning from the ANC manifesto rally in Port Elizabeth overturned,” spokesman Zizi Kodwa said.
“The ANC is still clarifying details about the accident and will issue further details once all pertinent information has been verified. Our thoughts are with the injured and bereaved at this time,” he said.
According to an ANC Gauteng tweet, eight ANC marshals died when the bus overturned on the N1 in the Free State. The bus was believed to have been carrying ANC people from Ekurhuleni, on the East Rand.
