The African National Congress (ANC) is expected to descend on the Eastern Cape province this week as part of its mobilisation campaign towards the Saturday Election Manifesto launch in Port Elizabeth.
Party president, Jacob Zuma will lead events.
Local government elections will be held on the 3rd of August, 2016.
High spirits as the provincial leadership puts the finishing touches to preparations for the week ahead. It’s preparing to welcome colleagues and supporters from across the country in the coming days.
ANC Eastern Cape provincial secretary Oscar Mabuyane says, “Thousands are expected to converge on the 40 000 seater Nelson Mandela Bay stadium. The party’s leadership led by president Jacob Zuma will fan out across the province to seek support.”
This will be an issue based manifesto launch. The upcoming local government elections are expected to be the most fiercely contested yet.
Opposition parties like the Democratic Alliance (DA) have made their intentions clear that they want to wrestle the metro from the ANC.
