DA Leader encourages South Africans to vote

Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane says choosing not to participate in the forthcoming Local Government Elections is tantamount to abdicating one’s responsibility.

Maimane is among politicians who are out and about to encourage people to register to vote in the August the third elections.

Maimane has told residents of Mamelodi, east of Pretoria, to use their ballots to choose their leaders.

“The voters are the bosses. The politicians are not. The day politicians fear the voters is the day democracy is working. Therefore we must remind the people that when you are saying you are not going to vote you are abdicating your responsibility as a boss because you are saying let other people hire the people that will work for me. Remember when you vote you hire a government so that, that government must work for you,” says Maimane.
