Vote to strengthen democracy; Ramaphosa

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa urged South African citizens to participate in the local government elections to strengthen their democracy.

Ramaphosa was speaking at the ANC door to door campaign in Emandeni in KwaZulu-Natal.

He encouraged the people to go and register to be able to excise their rights.

Ramaphosa stated that the government is aware of the challenges faced by different communities in the country.

This is after Electoral Commission called on registered voters to use the weekend to visit their voting stations to update and confirm address details.

The Constitutional Court found that addresses were essential to ensure that voters were registered in the correct voting districts.

Over 22 000 voting stations will be open across the country over this weekend.
