PAC faction meets with SABC over reporter’s incident

A faction of the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC) has reaffirmed that it is the legitimate representative of the party.

Last month a scuffle broke between two factions of the PAC. Two men and a woman stormed into a live interview causing a commotion.

On Thursday the PAC and SABC met to discuss the incident an the coverage of parties during campaigning for the upcoming Local Government Elections.

This is in the wake of a confrontation last month at Freedom Day celebrations being covered by an SABC political reporter.

The meeting is also part of the public broadcaster’s policy of engaging stakeholders.

“We need to make sure that our journalists are safe where they are, there is no way were we will send our journalist when we know there is a risk,” says SABC Chief Operating Officer Hlaudi Motsoeneng.

The PAC assured the public broadcaster that the incident will never happen again.

“That is regrettable, we will take responsibility of the security and all issues regarding to safety of SABC journalists,” says PAC’s Narius Moloto.

The SABC also clarified its position on political coverage particularly of those represented in Parliament ahead of the municipal elections in August.

The SABC recently also met the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).
