The African National Congress (ANC) has affirmed its confidence in President Jacob Zuma.
ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe says all those who have information regarding members of the Guptas family offering people Cabinet posts must approach the office of the ANC secretary-general.
Mantashe has reassured people that their safety is guaranteed. He has however warned that people must allow children of politicians to do business like any other citizen of the country.
The National Executive Committee has rejected the notion of undue influence on the State.
Mantashe says the ruling party has also expressed its confidence in Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and applauded his efforts to boost confidence in the economy.
Mantashe addressed a media briefing in Pretoria after the conclusion of its National Executive Committee meeting in Irene.
He has also rejected suggestions that Zuma will make a Cabinet reshuffle.
In a statement, the Presidency said it wishes to refute the story published by Independent Newspapers about an alleged imminent Cabinet reshuffle by President Jacob Zuma during the coming week.
“We reject the notion of any or family groups seeking such influence over the ANC with the contempt it deserves. The appointment of minister and deputy ministers is the sole prerogative of the President of the republic. In line with the constitution to this end, the ANC continues to confirm its full confidence in our President,” says Mantashe.
