A National Freedom Party (NFP) councillor at Umsinga in northern KwaZulu-Natal has been gunned down outside her home by unknown attackers.
Nompumelelo Zondo’s body was discovered by her neighbours on Tuesday morning.
The motive for the shooting is currently being investigated by police and a case of murder has been opened.
NFP secretary-general, Professor Nhlanhla Khubisa says, “Early this morning (Tuesday) the neighbours saw the car door was open and when they went there they saw that she was in a pool of blood and that she had been shot dead.”
“We do not know who did such a ruthless act and we are calling upon the police to make it a point that they investigate the matter and the killers are arrested with immediate effect,” adds Khubisa.
