The South African Communist Party (SACP) says they fully support the African National Congress in the upcoming Local Government Elections.
Party Secretary Blade Nzimande joined the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal in a door-to-door campaign to encourage communities to go to register to vote and check their names in the voters roll.
In some areas, the party’s candidate selection is said to have caused infighting between ANC and SACP members.
Nzimande together with the ANC chairperson in KZN, Sihle Zikalala, are visiting communities around Newlands, KwaMashu and Ntuzuma north of Durban.
He says they should use the campaign to resolve the challenges they are facing.
“As the SACP we fully support the ANC in forthcoming Local Government Election, it’s the only organisation that we are convinced is best to continue with the program, it’s worth working with the people, to change their lives for the better.”
Nzimande says, “We need to use the campaign as one of the key platforms to actually overcome the problems and some of the challenges that we have had, it’s an ideal time to actually do that, to unite, but definitely more still needs to be done but we are convinced that we are on track to be able to deal with the problems we face.”
