EFF’s move to revoke Gupta interdict dismissed

The High Court in Pretoria has dismissed the Economic Freedom Fighters’ (EFF) application to revoke the court interdict granted against its leader, Julius Malema.

The order was granted earlier, barring Malema and his party from inciting violence against the Gupta family and its employees.

The High Court granted the Gupta family‚ Oakbay Investments‚ The New Age‚ ANN7 and other subsidiary companies an interdict last month after Malema’s comments saying that journalists working for Gupta owned media would not be welcome to cover the party’s events.

The court then issued an order barring Malema from hurling inflammatory statements and making violent threats against the family and its staff.

On Friday the EFF took the matter back to court to have the order set aside, however the application was dismissed.

The party’s legal representatives say they’re going to petition the Supreme Court of Appeal for application for leave to appeal.
