Khoza remains part of ANC: Kodwa

Keith Khoza will remain part of the African National Congress’s communication, says the ANC’s spokesperson Zizi Kodwa.

This comes after the resignation of Khoza as ANC’s Communication Manager to join the Gauteng government.

In an interview with SABC radio PM Live, Kodwa says he was already aware of the party’s former Communications Manager resignation since the appointment of Paul Mashatile.

Kodwa says he was not surprised, “He actually made a request after the appointment, given the working relations with Keith. They worked together when Paul was in the same portfolio before as the MEC of Housing.”

Kodwa says when the results were presented to him, he had no problems with releasing Keith because he is not lost, given his Institutional memory within the ANC.

“He remains part of the ANC,” says Khoza.

The ANC has also dismissed claims that two of its members resigned because of issues within the ruling party.

Former Chief Whip, Stone Sizani, also resigned from his position this week. Sizani has since been redeployed to Germany as an ambassador.

The DA says Sizani quit because he could no longer cope with defending President Jacob Zuma in parliament. However, ANC spokesperson Zizi Kodwa says such claims are untrue.

“They are fishing from the kitchen. The fact of the matter, there was nothing indefensible. Keith has been part of a solid communication of the African National Congress. It is those who already formulated their view about matters around the ANC, around government. I think those people, right or wrong, have got the right to express their views. But that should not be linked to anything that has to do with the fact that Keith did not quit but resigned from the portfolio from his position,” Kodwa explained.
