Cape Town Mayor and Western Cape Democratic Alliance (DA) leader, Patricia De Lille and Nelson Mandela Bay mayoral candidate, Athol Trollip, went on a voter registration drive in trouble torn Port Elizabeth’s Northern areas on Friday.
It began at the Cleary Park Shopping Centre and proceeded to Arcadia- where six people were killed in an apparent gang violence last month.
With the first voter registration taking place this weekend, De Lille highlighted the importance of this registration. “If every single
person that is eligible to vote go out and register and then together we can bring about change. It’s only through change, its only through voting. The African National Congress (ANC) has been voted in and the only way to get them out is through vote – and that is why I am here, to encourage the people of Nelson Mandela to bring about change.”
Trollip thanked De Lille for coming to the Nelson Mandela Bay. “If you are not registered you can’t vote… and we have seen in the city Cape Town when people register and vote for a change then they get a DA government. Thank you Patricia for coming to visit us.”
