I am confident in Stone Sizani‘s leadership: Mothapo

African National Congress (ANC) spokesperson in Parliament Moloto Mothapo says he is confident in Stone Sizani‘s leadership.

This follows the sudden resignation by the ANC Chief Whip, announced at a special caucus meeting in Cape Town on Wednesday.

Sizani says he will replace Makhenkesi Stofile as South Africa’s ambassador to Germany.

Mothapo speaking on SAfm’s PM Live says Sizane’s contribution to the South African people is important and that he can be deployed anywhere.

“Well it is true. The organisation always tells me where to go next. They don’t have to wait for me to finish whatever. I will be doing this as long as they always have better and more capable people to do the job.”

Stone Sizani has been ANC Chief Whip since 2013 when he took over from Mathole Motshekga. No ANC Chief whip has ever completed a term since 1994. Sizani is the party’s eleventh Chief Whip and now he too departs early.

He says it is up to the party’s leadership to decide on deployments.

“I am happy that the organisation has taken this decision and I will go wherever the organisation asks me to go,” Sizani says.

Deputy Chief Whip Doris Dlakude will act as Chief Whip.
