Zille slams ANC statements over racial prejudice

Western Cape Premier, Helen Zille, has rubbished the African National Congress’ (ANC) statements in the province that racial prejudice runs through her State of the Province address.

Zille was responding to criticism from the ANC that last week’s address was not representative of the poor in the province.

However, Zille says that the official opposition didn’t debate her address as it didn’t listen to it.

“The human rights commission report from last year has been quoted in business tech in a list of South Africa’s most racist provinces and guesses what madam speaker, Gauteng tops the list with 121 complaints of racism last year,” says Zille.

She adds that the whole of the Western Cape was way behind with 29.

“Even KwaZulu-Natal is almost double the number of complaints than the Western Cape has. Now if there were 29 in the Western Cape it’s still too many,” she says.
