DA turns blind eye on councillors: ANC

The African National Congress in the City of Cape Town has accused the Democratic Alliance run city of turning a blind eye to the wrong-doings of councillors.

The city has found DA councillor, Sam Pienaar not guilty of breaching its code of conduct, but was removed as a sub-council chair.
Pienaar failed to disclose his involvement in the Trojan Horse shootings on the Cape Flats 30 years ago.

Pienaar is still facing disciplinary action within the DA.

However, ANC Chief Whip in the city council, Xolani Sotashe, argues that the council’s decision reflects DA views.

“It’s a reaffirmation of what we have been saying. They speak one thing and then they do something contrary. So this issue of Pienaar is another affirmation of the DA that protects racism and that protects the apartheid regime. They can’t come and tell the society that they are a clean government when they have individuals with a background that is so tainted,” says Sotashe.
