Zuma not genuine: Floyd Shivambu

Economic Freedom Fighter’s Deputy President, Floyd Shivambu says they know that President Jacob Zuma’s offer to pay back the money is not a genuine offer.

“He is saying to us that he will instruct the Auditor General and who so ever to determine whether he must pay and how much he must pay, all those things,” says Shivamba.

Shivamba says the president is just taking a detour like he did with parliament, SAPS and the Minister of Police.

“He does all this to try run away from paying the money,” he says.

His comments comes as scores of EFF members have gathered at the Mary Firtzgerald Square in Newtown ahead of the party’s march to the Constitutional Court. The EFF wants the court to order President Zuma to implement the remedial action of the Public Protector following a probe into security upgrades at his Nkandla private residence.

Meanwhile social media is abuzz as the hearing into the powers of the Public Protector who is currently Thuli Madonsela, is set to be heard on Tuesday at the Constitutional Court.

Madonsela’s seven-year term of office expires in October 2016.

With some saying if the president can take up more than one term then the Public Protector should also be able to take on more than one tern.

With others saying that the next Public Protector has big shoes to fill.
