Residents of Alexandra north of Johannesburg say government has failed to provide them with houses. They told Democratic Alliance’s Johannesburg mayoral candidate Herman Mashaba that they hope his party will change their lives.
Mashaba has been visiting the township to discuss service delivery issues with the residents.
The residents say they have been living without proper housing for a very long time. The Kwamadala hostel residents added that living in their area is “anything but easy.”
They claim to have been promised better living conditions by government but nothing has come of what they say are empty promises.
The residents told Mashaba that they would all vote for the DA in the next election if they are provided with proper houses.
Mashaba accused the ruling party of neglecting its people. He promised the residents that the DA would fix their hostel in the meantime.
