UDM disbands two E Cape structures

United Democratic Movement (UDM) Secretary-General Bongani Msomi has confirmed that two structures have been disbanded in the Eastern Cape. They are the party’s Provincial Executive Committee and O R Tambo Regional Executive Committee.

Msomi says factional differences cropped up among members over the election of the disbanded OR Tambo region and that prompted the UDM National Executive Committee to take drastic measures.

“The NEC reached a decision to dissolve that Provincial Executive Committee of the Eastern Cape as well as the OR Tambo Region is disbanded with immediate effect because it would be understood that we are pushing elections. So, if we were going to allow the structures in discord we were not going to do service in the party , hence we reached the decision.”

Mabandla Gogo, who was the Secretary of the disbanded OR Tambo region, says they do not have a problem with the disbandment of the structure.

“We do not have a slight problem with that resolution. We welcome it with warm heart. You will recall that it is the UDM that gives and it’s UDM that takes and the name of the United Democratic Movement must be praised.”
