ANC Top Six intervenes to tackle W Cape leadership mess

The ANC has admitted its leadership in the Western Cape is in serious trouble.

A few people turned out at a meeting in Grabouw on Saturday to celebrate the ANC’s 104th anniversary with both provincial chairperson Marius Fransman and provincial secretary Faiez Jacobs under investigation.

Speculation is rife that the provincial structure will be disbanded.

ANC chairperson Baleka Mbete says the party’s Top Six will arrive in Cape Town on Sunday to sort out the mess.

She says the Western Cape leadership is in the intensive care unit.

“The Top Six of the ANC is descending on the Western Cape to deal with issues. It’s very clear what our mission is in 2016, we can’t be demoralised, there is too much work to be done.”

Earlier, Mbete downplayed comments by the Western Cape ANC Youth League that morale is low among party members in the province.

The league was referring to a poor turnout at the party’s provincial celebration of the January 8 Statement at Grabouw.
