Fransman asked to stepdown

The ANC NEC has asked the party’s Western Cape leader, Marius Fransman, to step down pending the completion of an investigation into sexual harassment charges against him.

The party’s top six has also given provincial secretary, Faiez Jacobs 48 hours to show why he should not be suspended for assault charges.

The ANC’s top six will meet the Western Cape leadership on Monday to discuss the Fransman-matter and the way forward for the party in the province.

He is accused of sexual harassment involving a 20-year-old woman.

She laid a complaint at the North West Police when she accompanied Fransman to the party’s 104th celebration in Rustenburg.

Fransman has maintained his innocence.
