EFF eyes eThekwini Metro

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in KwaZulu-Natal says it wants to be governing in the eThekwini Metro and at least three other districts in KwaZulu-Natal after upcoming local government elections.

Deputy Chairperson of the party Jacky Shandu says the EFF has been growing in eThekwini, uMgungundlovu District in the Midlands, uThungulu District on the north coast and Sisonke District on the south of KZN.

He says they are confident that they will surprise many in the local polls.

Shandu says if they don’t win those municipalities, they will be in a position to form a coalition government with whichever party that they may agree with.

“In the eThekwini regions in particular we are doing very well. We have launched more than 90 branches because there are 117 wards. We have been working very aggressively in the region. With the weaknesses of the ruling party and the other opposition parties, I think we stand to gain a lot gain a lot in the region,” says Shandu.
