Map: Election Day protests Hot Spots

South Africans will head to the polls in less than 24 hours for the Local Government Elections and though  voting in many areas is likely to go smoothly, this will not be the case everywhere.

Some angry residents in different parts of the country have vowed that no elections will take place in their area. In response, the police have deployed thousands of police officers to make sure all voters and citizens are protected.

Acting National Police Commissioner,  Khomotso Phahlane says 100 000 police officers will be deployed to make sure that everyone is safe.

Below is map showing areas likely to experience violent protest on election day and the reason why residents are angry.The list is based on recent protests monitored by the SABC.
