The Home Affairs Department has confirmed it is extending its working hours in the run-up to and during local elections.

Home Affairs spokesperson Mayihlome Tshwete says they’ll be able to help if somebody has lost his or her identity document or wants to collect documents.

“The department is extending its office hours, on Saturday 30th July the department will be opened from 08:30 to 5pm, on Monday and Tuesday will be opened from 08:30 to 6pm and on Wednesday, the voting day, it will be opened the same hours as the IEC voting stations. We would like to extend the call to all South Africans who have not collected their documents to come forward and collect their documents so that they can cast their votes.”
