Pipeline, an informal settlement at Kya Sands in northern Johannesburg, is a stone throw away from Northriding, yet the struggles faced by the residents are the same if not worse than those experienced by people in rural areas.
The informal settlement, just off Witkoppen Road, has been in existence since 2012 (according to residents).
They were apparently moved from a nearby piece of privately owned to their current location.
On the priority list for many Kya Sands residents is proper sanitation, electricity and employment.
